Abstract
This image is unique in that 1) there are two triangles depicted 2) the triangles are depicted alongside a sistrum 3) and one of the triangles is stirrup-shaped.
At the top of the print, the images are credited as coming from (Dom) Antoine Augustin Calmet. Maillot's images are not exactly the same as Calmet's, and thus are not from the same plate.
In the both the plate and the text, the term "scalischins" is used; the word "triangle" is not used.
pg. 243
"In times of joy and rejoicing Jewish girls and women sang hymns, and accompanied themselves with tabours made like our basque tambours; the sistrum, cymbals and scalischines served the same purpose; to these we added rings, bells and bells."
