Abstract

In a biblical scene from the book of Judges, Jephthah's daughter comes out to greet her triumphant father, only to realize that he has promised to sacrifice to God, the first person that he sees. The triangle is large and is placed prominently in the center of the image. There is a clear depiction of the method of holding the instrument by placing the thumb through a suspension ring at the top.
